Dr. Mohamed ElZomor is an assistant professor at Florida International University (FIU), College of Engineering and Computing and teaches at the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability.

Dr. ElZomor spent more than a decade in engineering and managerial positions in the construction industry, delivering commercial, residential and entertainment multimillion-dollar projects. Before moving to FIU in 2018, he was an Assistant Professor State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Dr. ElZomor completed his doctorate at Arizona State University, Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Architecture from University of Arizona, a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from American University in Cairo.

By coupling his diverse cross-disciplinary academic knowledge with his tenure professional project management experience, Mohamed is versed in fostering interdisciplinary research. Dr. ElZomor’s research focuses on Sustainability of the Built Environment, Engineering Education, Construction Engineering, Energy Efficiency Measures and Modeling, Social Sustainability in the Construction Sector including the Health and Wellbeing, Project Management, and Sustainable Infrastructure & Resilience.

Dr. ElZomor has been integrating innovative and novel educational paradigms in STEM education to support student engagement, retention, and diversity. Dr. ElZomor’s goal is to embrace active, creative and inclusive learning environments for future workforces as well as integrate sustainability into construction for societal good.
